Our Mission

Our mission is to partner with the refugee members of the Roanoke community by providing equitable access to resources supporting economic, social, physical, and mental well-being.

About Us

Roanoke Refugee Partnership (RRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer-based organization. We serve members of our community by providing assistance with many aspects of life in order to support our neighbors and assist in reaching self-sufficiency. We are able to achieve this by partnering with organizations and helpers in our community with a desire to make a difference.

Because of our incredible volunteers and donors, we are able to offer tutoring for kids and adults, mentorship to assist in the journey to self-sufficiency, transportation, emergency financial assistance, and many other aspects that help break down barriers for families when they arrive to Roanoke.

We are here as neighbors helping neighbors.

How We Got Started

In early 2017, Megan Carter put out a call-to-action in our community to support our refugee neighbors in a tumultuous time. She expected a small group, but over 100 people came to that meeting wanting to be helpful. Knowing this meant there was great potential to create something bigger, she rallied people together. She and a handful of others began collecting supplies, then they established the nonprofit in April of that year. It grew exponentially in a short amount of time and continues to grow and meet needs because of those in our community with hearts for helping others.
